Paris (France), November 7, 2024 – The Efficiency Valuation Organization (EVO) is pleased to announce that Daniel Magnet is the inaugural recipient of EVO’s M&V Leadership Award 2024. Daniel Magnet is known in Europe for his long-lasting leadership in promoting the broad adoption of the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP®) to measure and verify energy savings from implementing energy efficiency measures.

The Board of Directors of EVO approved this Award's formal institution on October 21, 2024. It will be remitted annually to an individual whose leadership and knowledge have improved the awareness and reach of IPMVP and its related training materials for professional certifications. The Award also recognizes the advocacy role played by the recipient in pursuing EVO’s Vision and Mission.

Daniel is a valued and respected ambassador for EVO. He has spearheaded the creation of significant measurement and verification (M&V) resources in France and other countries through authoring and contributing to many technical documents, books, notes, design of thematic courses, and tools that help implement M&V programs. His leadership has led to the greater adoption of the IPMVP in various programs for M&V activities, notably in Switzerland, France, and Belgium.

Daniel’s leadership within the organization has been evident on multiple fronts through sharing his vast technical skills and knowledge with colleagues on the IPMVP Committee from 2008 onward and his active contribution to many EVO sub-committees. He also actively participated in EVO’s Training Committee and became its Chairman in 2014. He later joined the Instructor Review Group (IRG), where he oversees, with other volunteers, the mentoring of PMVA and PMVE instructors.

Daniel is a firm believer in EVO’s critical role among M&V stakeholders as the caretaker of the IPMVP and is dedicated to improving the competencies of M&V practitioners. He has graciously handed EVO many thematic training materials and standardized mentoring procedures, contributed to the growth of the instructor base, and contributed to EVO's statistical body of knowledge.

EVO Board members unanimously endorsed the Award to Daniel in their deliberations. “We are delighted for this opportunity to recognize Daniel’s tremendous contribution to the organization in so many ways. Volunteer work to mobilize colleagues and strengthen professional capacities is not always easy to accommodate among life’s other responsibilities. However, some individuals go above and beyond expectations to display exceptional leadership. In cases such as Daniel’s, public recognition for contribution, dedication, and service is very much warranted and well deserved,” said Mark Lister, EVO’s chairman. “I would also like to thank Bruce Rowse, a fellow EVO instructor from Australia and member of the IRG, for nominating Daniel for this Award.”

A call for nominations will be issued in early 2025 to recognize the next EVO M&V Leadership Award recipient.
