Marco Schiewe

Marco Schiewe is an energy efficiency and sustainable finance expert. Currently, he serves as a Project Director at the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), providing technical and financial assistance for energy efficiency investments in small and medium-sized companies in Brazil’s manufacturing industries, as part of the Mitigation Action Facility. In this context, he collaborates with development finance institutions and private banks on energy efficiency financing, which involves dedicated guarantee funds, credit lines and an energy efficiency technology list. Before that, Marco managed international projects and assignments at the European Investment Bank (EIB), Germany’s International Climate Initiative (IKI) and the German-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Brazil), focusing on energy efficiency and renewable energy investment promotion, capacity building, innovative financial instruments and carbon pricing mechanisms. He holds a MSc in sustainable resource management from the Technical University of Munich and a BA in public policy and economics from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.
